Privacy
A plain-English summary of what Examline stores and why. It describes the system as built; it has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer, and it is not a substitute for the agreement between a school and its families.
What we collect
- Your Google account details — name, email address and profile picture, from the sign-in you approve. Nothing else from your Google account, and no ongoing access to it.
- What your school records about you — your class, section and roll number, entered by the school or imported from its own spreadsheet.
- Your exam work — the answers you give, when you gave them, how long you spent, and the resulting marks.
- Exam window events — when the exam window lost focus, was hidden, left fullscreen, or a copy or print was attempted. See exam integrity for exactly what this does and does not mean.
What we never collect
No camera. No microphone. No screen recording. No image, audio or video of a student is created, transmitted or stored at any point, during an exam or outside one. We do not track you across other websites, and we do not sell or share anything with advertisers.
Who can see it
Your data belongs to your school's organisation and is stored in that organisation's own database, separate from every other school's. Teachers see the students in the classes they are assigned to. Administrators see their organisation. Nobody at one school can see another school's students, questions or results.
How long we keep it
Exam results are protected for three years after the exam ends and cannot be deleted before then, even by an administrator, and even if you delete your account. Schools need their historical records to stay intact and to add up. After three years they can be deleted.
Deleting your account clears your name, email address and picture, and replaces your name in each school's records with a reference such as “Student ANON-7K3QP2”. Results inside the three-year window survive in that anonymised form, so a class average from last term does not silently change. You cannot sign back in to those records afterwards.
Getting your data out
Questions, students and results export as CSV at any time. There is no export fee and no waiting period.
