A plain-English summary of the arrangement while Examline is in its first release. It has not yet been through legal review.
The service
Examline is provided free of charge during its first release. We will give notice before that changes, and existing organisations will not be charged retroactively.
What the platform is not
This is exam delivery and marking software. It is not invigilation. It does not use a camera or microphone, and it cannot tell you whether a student is being helped, using another device, or reading notes. For an exam whose result carries real consequences, use a supervised venue — see exam integrity, which sets out the limits in full and which we hold our marketing to.
No feature of this platform fails a student automatically. Integrity flags are evidence for a person to review, and the decision is always the school's.
Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the student records you import, and for having the right to enter them.
- You are responsible for telling students what is recorded during an exam. We ship a default notice on the instructions screen for exactly this.
- Accounts are personal. Sharing sign-in credentials undermines the only identity signal we have.
Your data
Your questions, students and results are yours. They export as CSV at any time. Results are protected from deletion for three years after an exam ends — see privacy.
Availability
We work hard to be up on exam mornings and we will tell you honestly when we are not. During the first release the service is provided as-is, without a contractual uptime guarantee. If you are running a large or high-stakes exam, tell us the date beforehand.
